Nursing and baby food amounts

Casey

My twins are 9 months old and had their check up today. They're not gaining weight like the nurse practitioner said they should be (one is 18.5lbs and the other is 16.8lbs) and said to increase the amount of food they're getting every day. She told us that at this age they should be eating table foods, snacks, and baby food more often than they should be breastfeeding. As of right now they eat one 4oz container of Gerber 2nd foods in the morning and another in the evening, and they have a snack of yogurt and some form of finger foods around lunch time, with 5-6 nursing sessions throughout the day. I truly thought they should still be nursing this much still at this age, so being told to cut back and give more food is confusing. Any advice or suggestions would be so appreciated!
