Probably, because our healthcare system sucks, so if you can't afford the right preventative care to ensure your health you wait until birth and it's too late.

As for increasing? I would guess that we are shutting down clinics for care in poor neighborhoods, but still forcing those women to have their babies with little or no prenatal care.

We have really poor healthcare in general. It's also extremely expensive.

Because women in the US take doctors advice and findings as a personal challenge. Instead of accepting it would be dangerous for them to have a baby due to whatever medical reason, or age, or genetic reason, and not having a biological child, they spend thousands on fertility treatment and end up with complications they were warned about. Infertility isn't a diagnosis people accept in the US. The fight biology with science and it costs them their lives. I personally know of 3 women who died in/soon after labor. In all three cases they had been told not to attempt to have biological children. They had insurance. They had means. One had previously had cancer one was older one had a blood disorder. All there sought infertility treatment to have their biological baby. All three died from complications that were predicted and unmanageable.

Lack of accessible healthcare. And hospitals here are businesses. They want to get mothers in and out as quick as possible, and do as little as possible without realizing the consequences.

Because people who are poor don't have access to good prenatal care. Poor areas are also at a high rate for Infant mortality. They're trying to educate low income women and families but with the republicans constantly finding ways to defund planned parenthood, trying to take Medicaid away from millions.... it's not likely to get better. 🖕🏻GOP
