He claims to not care but yet he got sooo jealous when he thought I was talking to someone new. We were going to try to be friends but he thinks we will date again if we're friends (we both don't want to date anyone). One minute it seems like he totally cares, the next minute it doesn't. I just wanna be civil with him Bc he was my best friend for such a long time.

How do i get him to realize he messed up?? He realized once before and came back, but I'm scared he's gone for good. I'm scared that if I do me and act like I moved on he won't care and try to come back. I really don't want to lose him forever, please help
