Opening birthday presents?

So my sister and I plan on not opening our daughters birthday presents infront of our guests. Our daughters are literally 1 week apart so we're throwing their party the same day. Is it rude if we don't ? The party will start around 6:30 and end at 9 , we probably won't even have time anyways.

I don't personally think it's a big deal, but some of my older relatives were recently at a baby shower where the mom to be didn't open gifts. Let me tell you, people were upset about it.

I didn't open at my bridal shower (I'm a very private person) and people there still haven't talked to me and it's been 3 years! I'll have my daughter open at her birthday party only because it'll give me another way to entertain people.

I'm not - he will be interested until he gets a fist full of tissue paper and then that's it so I dont feel like struggling I'd rather just hang out and enjoy myself
