Was anyone dilated 3+ the first time the doctor checked you?

I'm going to get checked for dilation in a few weeks and I was wondering if it was possible that for the first time they check you, you could be 3cm or more dilated without knowing it! Story time girls!

Well I went to L&D; at 36 weeks thinking I surely couldn't be in *real* labor as I was laughing and joking still but my husband convinced me to go. They checked me and I was 8cm with a bulging bag.

I was 4 cm with my second babes first time I ever got checked around 36 weeks. Had her at 39.

I was 1 cm the first check, 2 the next week, 4 the next week, and 6 the next week. Stayed 6 cm for 5 days. Other than them checking me, there was no way for me to personally know I was dilating

Yeah. First time I was checked with my first I was 1cm and stayed there for 3 weeks. But the first time I was checked with my second I was 3cm. I was shocked.
