Crossing the Rainbow Bridge

My Great Dane had to be put down today at only 4 years old. His birthday is this Saturday and I don't know how I can emotionally handle this kind of loss. He's been with me through everything and my home feels so empty without him. My whole family felt closure when it came to this, but I physically ache right now. Does anybody have any coping methods for this kind of loss?
