I never shampoo my hair (it's bad for my hair i only condition) except If it's with the Jamaican black castor oil shampoo by Shea Moisture. When straightened my hair went from shoulder length to mid back in like 4-6 months. My hair grows very slow so it would usually take a year for me to get that much growth.

I get mine trimmed every 3-4 months and that seems to help it grow (my hair is quite long though so the ends die and go gross fairly fast). I also found that using Mane and Tail shampoo/conditioner helps with hair growth. Yes it's horse shampoo, but it can be used for people as well. I know a lot of people who swear by it for hair growth.

How often do you wash it? You're only supposed to wash it 2-3 times a week. When you wash it more often your washing out the natural oils that help your hair grow.

Well I have a 3c/4a hair type (natural hair) and haven't used heat on my hair in a year and I trimmed damaged/split ends and always kept my hair moisturized and conditioned. I put it into a protective style and left it like that for almost 2 months. Today I took it out and my hair grew two inches in the past month.
