I want a marriage and engagement ring but my husband says no. Our culture doesn't do rings.
We've been married for 3 years and I've been asking for a ring since we've been married. He won't buy me one and I don't want to get one myself because I want him to gift it to me.
My argument: We are Asian Americans. I love being American and Asian. It really sucks to see some of my friends and family get engagement rings and when I look down on my hands, they are bare. On top of that, I really really really want one to show off in public that I am married. It doesn't have to even be expensive.
His argument: he already bought me a necklace, which is a requirement in our culture to give to your wife. That I don't need one and that my reasons suck.
Am I wrong to keep asking? I don't ask a lot but every once in a while I would being it up and we get into arguments.
