Obese?!

Question

My bum is 30. That makes me obese but I KNOW I'm not that unhealthy! Anyone else have a wonky bmi?

I am 5'4" and weigh 200 lbs. According to my BMI I'm 34.3, meaning I'm overweight/obese. But my body fat is only 24%. I lift weights and am a healthy person. BMI doesn't take muscle into account. Don't feel bad one second that your BMI is totally different from how you look or feel. BMI is a bad reference for fitness!

BMI is a pretty good indication of health actually. Just because we don't feel "obese" doesn't mean you aren't. Our entire culture is becoming obese so we tend to think "oh well I'm not as big as that guy..,etc"

You can be obese and healthy a bmi just tells you what a healthy weight you should be at im obese and healthy to besides my cholesterol

I'm probably considered morbidly obese or some crap....  I have absolutely no health issues and 5 months pregnant and doctor says everything is prefect. Not to mean I am "healthy" I can eat better and exercise. It was from years of college/working and so much fast food. But I'm working on it, and have no health issues.

im 5'6 185pds. I think it's ridiculous but my doc is really on me about it! plus im ttc and being "obese" is making it really hard for me.

I'm 5"10 and my BMI is 30. However my matabolism tests, thyroid, cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar, vitamin panel and so on and so on are in the good-excellent range. You can be healthy and overweight - however the excess weight can help cause problems later or make it so you're not quite as healthy as you could be.

According to bmi calculation I was obese at 160 lbs wearing a size 7 in high school, lol, my dr at the time told me to add 30 lbs to the height/weight chart for my body type to be healthy. My sister starved herself down to the weight on the chart and a size 3 but she felt and looked horrible.

My bmi shows that I am morbidly obese.  I am overweight, but my only health issues are asthma and fibroids.  So, I don't really worry about it.

My bmi is also technically "obese" and the weight of need to get down to to be "normal" would actually be super unhealthy for me. How do I know? Well I used to be that weight and was super unhealthy. 
I'm trying to ignore the numbers and just be healthy
