welcome to the world smokey oliver silva! born aug 24th at 12:40 pm. he weighed 6.5 lbs and was 19 and 3/4 inches long! he was 5 days overdue and i was set to be induced at 7am but he decided to get things moving at 2am! i went in after being sent home the previous day with really painful contractions and stuck at 3cm. i went in at 2am because i knew i couldn't take the pain any longer and found out i'd progressed to 5cm and was in active labor! i contracted for about 3-4 hours and finally got my epidural at around 5 or 6am. and thank goodness i did because i had not slept hardly at all in the past two days due to the contractions so i finally was able to rest. at 11:40 i was finally dilated to 10 and was able to start pushing. as a ftm i wasn't sure exactly what or how much i would feel pushing while having the epidural, but i was thankfully not numb enough to not feel my legs. i could actively push and only felt the pressure in my pelvis. after about an hour or that i was finally able to give that last push and my little boy was finally here! unfortunately, he had had a bowel movement in the womb (a few days ago but no one was sure when he did because it was a brown color instead of black) and it had gotten into his lungs so they had to take him to the nursery to give him antibiotics and run some lab works. i was able to hold him before then thankfully but the dad unfortunately has not been able to yet. however they say that he is doing really well and he's breathing normally so hopefully he will be able to go home with us on saturday. i am just so happy to finally have him here with us!
