Baby sleeping on his side?

so i just brought my newborn home, he is only 5 pounds. every time i lay him down to go to bed he rolls to his side,is this safe? will he roll to his belly? i know that's not safe.

He probably won't roll completely over... buy a rock N sleeper from fisher price $45. Best thing ever!!!

If he's able to do it on his own, it's fine. Now I wouldn't strategically position him that way, but you can't really stop him

My son did and the dr said just to let him

Mine did the same thing as a newborn. Definitely freaky, but my Dr said to try not to worry since there's no way to prevent him from doing it (& yes, he could still do it swaddled, so we didn't swaddle since the worst possible thing would be him rolling all the way to his stomach while swaddled).
