2 periods in a month?

I just ended my period two weeks ago to the day. It was brought on by progesterone. It was light and I had minimal cramping. Yesterday I spotted and today I started a really heavy period with horrible cramps. Has anyone had 2 periods in a month? Is it maybe because of the progesterone? I just want to make sure I shouldn't be concerned. I'm going to call my doctor after lunch.
