Turtle help

I'm thinking of getting a turtle but I have a few questions first.

1. do they smell bad

2. how often do i have to clean their area

3. do they like to be taken out of their cage to cuddle or crawl around

4. how expensive are they

5. can they live in a cage? like it's got a cardboard base about 2-3 inches up and it's a cardboard floor, and it has bars up higher. It was originally used for a guinea pig, would that work or do I need an aquarium

6. how much space do they need

7. is it possible to NOT get a sea turtle?

8. how long do the small ones live

9. how much water do they need to swim in

10. how much exercise do they need

11. how big does their space need to be

12. what do they eat and drink

13. other tips I should know?
