Cake smashing ?

So I'm planning my daughters first birthday! So what kind of cake is appropriate and safe to get for a 1 yr old? Any cake or is there a specific type for babies ? Where can I find a cake smashing cake ? Lol

Lol guess I'm the only one who has given their little one a taste of cake before? I just used regular vanilla. She had a couple bites, took a picture or 500, and was over it.

I found a recipe for a healthy smash cake that I'm thinking of doing. I would just feel better about it than letting my son get all cracked out and end up with a stomach ache from eating a bunch of sugar that he isn't used to.

We did cupcakes and I left the sugar frosting off of hers and instead covered it with Redi-Wip.  I pulled the cupcake into pieces underneath so she could find bites in her pile of whipped cream. worked great!

I actually manage a bakery and I've been thinking about this for this past year! My daughter is a cow and eats anything and everything lol but I'm doing a vanilla cake you can also do white because it doesn't have the added vanilla and I'm doing a bettercream frosting instead of the regular buttercream. The bettercream is less sugary and is also nondairy so it won't be so sweet for her it's almost like a cool whip frosting. I'm not doing much for her 1st bday but cake is the 1 thing I'm doing for sure.

We're giving our son cupcakes for his parties. My SO is baking blueberry cupcakes for our little family evening and my mom is ordering something special from a local bakery.

For my son's first birthday we have him a piece of a white cake with butter cream frosting. He went to town. He didn't really eat much. Most of it ended up all over him. No tummy ache after. He had a lot of fun though.

For his smash cake we're doing the same thing on Tuesday! Can't wait!
