IUD + extra cervix dilation?!

Getting my IUD in a couple of hours. Super nervous since it failed last month and the NP told me that my cervix was not open enough albeit being one of my heaviest flow days. So I have to use extra dilators- two pills last night making me extra crampy and will have to get it additionally dilated in clinic. Have any of you had that experience and what is it like? I'm so nervous but I also want to be responsible and not have kids while I'm in my last years of college and later in Med school.
