What does this even mean? Will FEMA be affected? What will be affected?

Sorry guys! I wasn’t detailed 🤦🏼‍♀️ okay, so apparently Trump is threatening to shut the government down, if he doesn’t get his way with his wall. 
I don’t understand it at all, so I thought I’d ask CC because you guys always educate me on US American politics since I’m still learning.

This happens to us at the end of every fiscal year. It's unfair to government employees who need our paychecks to support our families. We have definite perks to working for Uncle Sam. The constant threat of shutdown is certainly not one of them. My guess is that they will pass a continuing resolution to bump this decision into dec, right around Christmas, when we are threatened with shutdown again. It's stressful and exhausting and very unfair. He clearly doesn't give a shit about the people working under him Day to day.

Sounds like he's talking out of his ass though🤥🤥💩. It was at a rally, in Phoenix where they have a huge controversy about immigration to begin with. I doubt he will though. At least I hope he won't. That's ridiculous. If he wants the wall so bad, maybe he should hire those hillbillies to do it and get their asses off welfare🤔🤔

We've had a government shut down before with Obama, I can't remember what year it was, pretty sure it was during his second term though.

He's throwing a huge tantrum...but if it does end up happening then every government facility will shut down like they did last time. My husband didn't have work because he worked on a military base and he couldn't work until the government shutdown was cancelled. I think that was back in......2013-2014?? Our Veterans Affairs facility was shut down too. No one could be seen for anything medical at all! Not sure how it would go this time but I assume somewhat the same as last time.

It happens sometimes. My husbands military so it's really not fun. He's a cop so even when the government shuts down, he still has to work even if no one is getting paid. It's lovely 🙄

I posted this in a comment but I'll post it here too. So here's a brief summary of how it works. The president submits a detailed budget plan to Congress that lists how he wants all of the revenue the US brings in to be spent. Congress then reviews it, makes changes and votes to accept it once everything has been hammered out. They'll start working on it the Tuesday after Labor Day and they have to have it done by the end of the fiscal year, which is September 30. If they can't agree on a budget resolution and don't get it passed in time, they will submit a request to the president to sign a continuing resolution. Basically giving them more time to come up with a budget resolution that all can agree on. If the president finds the terms of the budget unacceptable, he can refuse to sign the CR and the government would shut down on October 1 due to not having a resolved budget for the next fiscal year. This happened in 2013 because Obama wouldn't sign without funding for Obamacare. It also happened in the 90s when Clinton was president. It has happened other times as well but not for as many days. Trump has threatened to refuse to sign the CR and force a government shutdown if the budget doesn't include funding for the border wall. So indirectly he could cause a government shutdown. I hope that makes sense.
