Should I date him?

So there's this guy that I really like and he is currently on house arrest and has a criminal record. I've been messaging him for over three week, and we started video chatting two days ago. Yesterday I was bored and so I decided to google him and I found out about some weird shit that he's done.

My friends think that I should block him but I really like him. I videochatted with him last night and asked him about what I found and he started crying and he was mortified and embarrassed.

I'm wanting to hang out with him tonight but I don't know if I should because this would be the first time we're hanging out and since he's on house arrest we'd have to hang out at his place and I'm fairly comfortable with that but my friends would freak out if I told them.

Any advice on what I should do?
