Does it affect traditions ?

I have been with my SO for almost 10 years now. Living together for 5. We're about to get married. Questions is ... for people going through similar situations , does this affect traditions such as bachelor / bachelorette parties, seeing one another before the wedding and all the most traditional things ?

It doesn't have to. 🤷🏻‍♀️ This wasn't my situation, but I believe that you are free to do whatever the heck you want when it comes to your special day. My husband and I didn't live together beforehand, and still we DIDN'T do a lot of the traditional stuff (for example, instead of bachelor/bachelorette parties, we had one big get-together with all of our wedding party.. I also didn't do a bridal shower or anything like that). Though we still had a ceremony/reception, there were things we opted out of like bouquet toss and toasts and a "giving away" (we modified it so it was more about my husband becoming part of my family, as opposed to my family giving me to him). For us, the most important thing was a feeling of intimacy/expressing who we are as a couple as well as celebration, and not every tradition felt genuine or right for us. No matter your circumstance, I think you can be as traditional or as non-traditional as you desire. We ultimately did a mixture, and it felt absolutely perfect for us. Just do what feels more natural for YOU, whether that includes tradition or not.

Answer

You can still have all of the traditional stuff if you want it. If you don't want to see each other before the wedding, one of you sleep somewhere else. My husband stayed in our hotel suite the night before and I had a sleepover with my mom. You can't still have/do whatever traditions you want
