IUD removal and heavy bleeding

Jalynne

Hello! My husband and I are TTC our second child. So I went down to my doctor and had my Skyla IUD removed after 2 and half years. I got the IUD removed exactly one week ago on day one of AF. My periods while on BC have always been light or nonexistent but when I took the IUD out I haven't been able to stop bleeding. The bleeding hasn't showed any sign of stopping or slowing down. I'm changing my tampon/Diva Cup every hour and waking up multiple times in the night to change my pads. Has anyone else experienced this as well after your IUD removal because I'm now at the point where I think I'm losing much more blood that I am supposed to.

It takes a couple months for your body to get used to not having that hormonal birth control in your system. I believe I bled for about 2-3 weeks after I had my IUD taken out.

However it was a normal period bleed. It wasn't terribly heavy. I would call your doctor and let them know how much you are bleeding and how heavy it is. See what they have to say about it because I don't believe it should be extremely heavy heavy.
