should i take the baby?

so my fiances younger brother and girlfriend are expecting but a social worker has been out to visit and said the baby may be taken away from them as they don't look after themselves.           His older sister already has a child of her own and suggested maybe we could take his brothers baby.                               I would feel awful taking the baby from them but I would rather take her the her going to some unknown family and the parents not being able to see her. I think it would be nice to keep the baby in the family(if this makes sense).               I guess my only worry would be becoming attached with the baby and when it's time to (hopefully) give her back, I don't know if I would be able to.                                                                                                                                                                                                              Well anyways I was just wondering what your view on this would be.

If they take the baby, then yes. It is much better (and the social workers will most likely agree) that putting the baby with family is better than foster care.

How  about  helping them with bettering themselves  to be capable of caring for the baby themselves?  If thats not  an option, I'd  take the baby 100% , no way I'd  allow my neice or nephew  be raised by a stranger. I don't  care  what they say or anyone  else in  the family  says, the only important  factor  is the innocent  baby. But I would,  for the time being try everything  to help them keep the baby on their own.

If you're financially and physically capable of caring for a newborn then I would absolutely to take the baby, however, I wouldn't wait for the state to take her and give her to you, what I would do is offer to adopt her. It would be an open adoption obviously, but it would be permanent and the state wouldn't be in control, you would.

We took my nephew in when he was taken at 4 months.  The parents have never gotten their life together and we decided to raise him as our own.  We adopted him and I wouldn't have it any other way.  We didn't know it going into it but he is the best thing that has ever happened to us.  He is 4 now and we are expecting in March.  He is so excited to be a big brother.  Best of luck to you however it turns out.  You will either be a really wonderful aunt or if they don't straighten their life out a wonderful mother.  Either way it will be a very special bond and I highly doubt you will regret it.  Just make sure you know what your getting into and don't go into it lightly.

Would u rather have a special bond with your niece/nephew and risk that moment of missing the child as your own, or the child going to an unknown place? 
I think it's best for the entire family for u to take in the child for now. Just keep in the back of your mind that they can go back with their parents to avoid any unwanted separation anxiety if that makes sense?

i think it would be best for the baby and i know you fear getting attached to the baby but that would happen anyway if they where fit to take care if the baby themselves, you would be the baby's aunt anyway so you would get to know and love the baby anyway!!

If you and your fiance are willing to take it and you're able to, I don't see why not. If your only concern is you won't be able to give them back, that just shows that you should take them; that's proof they'll be loved and cared for. And when the time comes you can always visit.

it would be so much better for baby to be able to stay with family. talk w the social worker, take some foster parent classes and see if it's best for you and your family. but I think its amazing you are thinking about doing this. fostering saves lives and gives hope. ❤❤❤

Contrary to what some believe, CPS really doesn't like removing children and putting them into the system. If they have to remove, they would prefer a family member to take them. 
If you are able to do so, then yes, I would take the baby.

I'm just a little worried that maybe the parents wouldn't see it as us trying to help them and then possibly causing arguments within the the family because of this. I WOULD much prefer to take the baby and just hope they know we are trying to help them. His brother (dad to be) has already kicked off on his own mother then one who's took in the girlfriend and providing for them both and the baby, he's blaming this whole situation on her. so I don't know how he would react to us taking the baby.
