want to move out of state

so nothing has been going right for the last 2 months. and I have seriously been considering moving out of state. has anyone done so if so how hard of a transition was it for you. I would love a fresh new start at life. I do have a child there is no custody agreement however his father does not see him infact he has a warrant out for his arrest for missing a contempt hearing for child support. I have spoken with a lawyer and he stated that I can either take him to court and get full custody or I can simply move wait until I become a resident of whatever state I move to and then file for custody.
