My boyfriend and his ex?!

My boyfriend's ex started messaging him and apologising for how she ended the relationship. He responded by sayings that it's okay, but he's moved on and she should too. Then she messaged a week later and wants to be "friends" with him. I told him how I felt about him messaging her, and then he still does. I know he doesn't mean it in a hurtful way, but this feels like emotional cheating. Is it?

She is messaging him not the other way around. He is just being a good guy by telling her to move on.

It's not emotional cheatin unless he's going to her and telling her all his personal problems like he would share with you. 
An ex coming back and apologizing is just a nod to you, because he's yours now, and you know what you have! And so does she now. And she lost out.

He's not emotionally cheating but I know if it were my SO I would feel very threatened and upset by him being friends with her (especially if she still had feelings or nostalgia about him). Set your boundaries, don't attack him (it isn't his fault she texted him, and he told her he had moved on and she should too), but be clear that you don't feel comfortable with that. You have to trust that he chose you and will continue to choose you because he loves you. She's an ex for a reason. ❤️

I wouldn't necessarily say emotional cheating, but there's no reason for them to be talking. There's no "friendship."  I'd ask him to respect you and no talk to her.

Emotional cheating would be if he was still in love with her and had feeling for her and talking to her. 
Even if it isn't cheating though, it doesn't make it okay. If you are uncomfortable with them talking/being friends then he shouldn't be continuing it.
