Assisted suicide
How does everyone view assisted suicide? I'm very for it. I have seen people go downhill and live in pain for the rest of their lives or they deteriorate mentally to where they wake up and are so scared because they have no idea where or who they are. Or people deteriorate so bad that they need help changing an adult brief and they start crying because their independence is gone and that isn't a life they want. I have also seen the abuse that goes on within the caregiving community and read studies on it. Sexual, verbal, and physical abuse are rampant and then there's workers that just don't care and the people develop bed sores or skin shearing.
I feel that if someone knows they have a deadly disease or if they know they don't want that type of life that they should be able to make the choice to comfortably and easily end their lives on their own terms, as long as they are still mentally competent. They also would have to go through counseling beforehand.
I watched a documentary on this and it completely changed my point of view to be for assisted suicide. What are your thoughts or opinions on this? For it or against it? I know what choice I would make if it came down to it and I was ill. I feel that it's your life and you have the right to make such decisions.
