How to tell my husband I don't want to get pregnant anymore..?

After 4 years of ttc I realized I am 22 and not as ready as I thought I was. I'm a step mom to a 6yrs girl and we're fighting for sole custody. I haven't gone to college and my husband and I are in marriage counseling.. I don't want to hurt his feelings but I think this is the best for us right now.. plus after 4 yrs I've given up but I heard once you stop trying you get pregnant..

I would tell him everything you just said. Those were all valid and understandable reasons. With a custody battle going on the stress wouldn't be good either. At least you guys are in counseling which makes this a perfect time to discuss it. You can either bring it up in counseling or perhaps the day before you have a session.

Honestly is the best policy about these sort of things. I'm sure your marriage counselor would definitely agree. It'd be pretty terrible to play along like you're trying for a baby knowing full well you won't get pregnant. Kind of awful to do to someone you love. And if you tell him to use a condom, he's going to draw the connection. Be honest and talk to your partner. Communication is everything.

Those are all really good reasons other than "I just don't want kids." I don't understand why he'd be mad about that so just tell him. If you feel like you can't tell him these things, you have a deeper problem.
