Baby gagging on medicine

help! my 6 month old has an ear infection and he won't take the medicine. He gags until he throws up. I have tried squirting it in his cheek, laying him down and putting it in the back of his cheek, mix with milk, juice, strawberry syrup, put in the nipple of a bottle. Any other suggestions? edit: I ended up going to the Dr office to get help. they put a little in then gave him the pacifier to suck on and help him swallow. it worked, wish they would have suggested that over the phone!
