Language development: How many hours per day is your little one exposed to screens and how many words does he/she say?

I've seen lots of kids who started talking "late" (3 to 4 years old) and watched lots of TV.  I wonder if these two are really related.                   I know screen time should be minimal for babies but nowadays some exposure to tv seems almost inevitable

I don't think the tv has anything to do with it. I ave my tv on all morning and throughout the day if we are home. My daughter says over 40 words. She also plays fisher price apps on my phone and has learned a ton of words and animal sounds from it. She is extremely interested in learning and pays attention to everything. I think all kids are different too and maybe it depends what is on and how your child reacts to it.

I don't know about this screen thing. I know the American Academy of Pediatrics has probably done studies etc etc but we have the tv on all the time, and my 14 month old daughter watches tv for at least 30 minutes probably everyday and she has a 50+ word vocabulary. So while I'm sure the tv may play a part, I think a child is going to learn and speak in their own time.

My tv is on all the time, but my son hardly ever pays attention to it. I'd say he spends less than 20 minutes every day watching it because he is too active to focus on it. He says close to 20 words.

My tv is on all day. It always has been. I can't stand silence. Sometimes it has cartoons or kids songs on. She's at about 20 words. I know its not the best thing ever but it's how out household functions.

I leave the TV on even when my son is playing with his toys or reading his books. If he's wondering around the living room, the TV is usually on. So he's "exposed" not necessarily "watching" screens at LEAST 2 hours a day.. He's almost 16 months and he says over 20 words. He also will try to repeat just about any words he hears.. My 14 year old was speaking whole sentences before 2. And she must have watched Barney every minute she was awake back then! 😂 So no, I don't think the two are related at all.. We talk A LOT in our home.. Lol. I repeat every word he tries to say and I ALSO read to both of them from basically birth just about every single night.. If you ask MY opinion, reading is the key to their vocabulary.. Not TV.. 😊

I have the tv on for about half an hour in the morning to watch a bit of news while I have a coffee and sometimes I will put cartoons on but she isn't interested at all. We do have music playing almost always during the day and I sing along a lot. 
I'm raising a bilingual kid so a bit of a delay is expected. I'm noticing a lot of language development these past couple of weeks. Especially understanding what I'm saying and trying to repeat words. There are only a handful of words she says correctly but she is clearly working on it.

My son has watched T.V since he was young and was saying words before he was 1. He says 50+ words and has started developing sentences. A lot of what he has learned has come from watching educational shows
