Normal amount of discharge??

I've been on the pill since February. I've always had a decent amount of discharge, which may be a little more than most women I suppose. Recently I've had a consistent creamy, off-white discharge throughout the entire month that is often excessive, but now that I've been on birth control for a bit I can't remember if my discharge has always been like this or if the pill has thickened and produced more discharge?

It was so bad today that when my boyfriend and I went to change positions during sex, he said, "uhh, there's a lot of discharge" and when I looked down, there was a creamy white puddle (probably not the right terminology but bear with me here lol) on two different parts his penis, one of which was nearly dripping.

It must not have been too terrible since it didn't stop him from continuing, but it really made me wonder why my discharge is soooo heavy sometimes. I don't have any itching or discomfort, I keep up with my vaginal health and cleanliness, and eat right. Is this normal or should this amount of discharge be checked out? Is there any way to reduce vaginal discharge?
