I used a breathable mesh liner which is rated safe. It prevents kids from getting their arms ands legs stuck through the bars, but it doesn't pose a SIDS risk like most crib liners/bumpers

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends nothing but a tightly fitted sheet to reduce the risk of SIDS.

I didn't use one at first but my daughter kept getting her legs stuck in between the bars so we use a mesh breathable liner.
