Diagnostic Laparoscopy Surgery

Katie

I've asked this before, but didn't get too many replies; and I also have more specific questions now after doing some Googling. I am having a Laparoscopy done October 2nd to find a diagnosis for pain that I've had in my pelvis for nearly 2 years now. I just want to know all the small details of the surgery: like what to expect during and after the surgery. One specific I have is - I am supposed to start my next cycle a few days before the surgery and want to know, will this will be an issue? Another - Do they insert a catheter for the surgery, and if so, do they insert it and remove it while under anesthesia? (I am TERRIFIED of catheters for some reason.) Lastly - I know you're not supposed to wear tampons post-OP, and that's all I wear (great- lol), so considering I will be on my period while this is happening, can I wear a tampon on my way to the hospital? Sorry if I'm being overbearing; I've never had surgery and I'm so confused.
