clogged ears

So ive taken my daughter into the doctor twice now, because i thought she had an ear infection, when really she just had huge chunks of wax! doctor said she is digging in her ears because it may sound muffled. I clean her ears regularly, and try not to push anything in there. Well they recommended that i buy a sterile bulb syringe, and flush her ears with Hydrogen Peroxide. WHICH SHE HATED. anyone have any tips on how to prevent this? 17months if that matters.
