Irma aftermath question

So after the recent hurricane we are with out power and have been since Sunday night. They are telling us that they will have it back on by this coming Sunday at midnight. So a whole week with out electricity which yes there could be far worse things and we are grateful that we are safe and have no significant damage. Now we do have a generator that runs our AC, water pump(not the heater), and fridge. It's a lot of work to maintain (need to be filled with gas at least every 6 hours and trips often) and cost a lot of money to fill with gas. My best friend of 21 years and her fiancé (who my husband has a full on bromance with) have power, a spare bedroom/bathroom and have invited us to come stay with them. I want to go and my husband wants to stay. We got into a big argument about it, I feel like his reasons are stupid and cover up for his dumb pride and we ended the argument with him telling me to just go over there with the dogs and he'll stay here. I feel like it's wrong to do that but I'm considering it... thoughts? Opinions? Advise?
