Having a plan c-section..

So I am having a plan c-section in November. I had an emergency one with my son due to his heart rate dropping really low. Now I am pregnant with my second and my husband and I both agreed to have a plan c-section and my OB told me it's safer to have another one since I had surgery when I was 15 weeks pregnant. But I'm a little scared because I will be awake this time and I'm not really sure how a plan c-section works. My due date is on November 11th but i am having the surgery on the 6th of November. I am just wondering if any of you ladies had a plan c-section & how long did it took you to recover?
