interviewed for a job, but...

ok so 2 weeks ago I was interviewed for a job. they seemed to like me.. anyway they call me and tell me they decided to hire from within for that position but have another position that is available if I want... the position title is confusing bc the head director calls it one thing and the previous person (who I spoke to about the job duties) calls it another. my husband sees this all as a red flag bc it's rude that I went on an interview and after all that they decided to hire within, then why advertise a job opening. my question is what would u guys do, take the secondary position or leave bc this seems like red flags. p.s I don't know the salary yet for this position.
