are extensions cultural appropriation?

I genuinely don't know and don't want to be rude or insensitive to anyone, and I know dreadlocks are appropriation and understand why, so I was wondering about extensions. I'm growing out a pixie cut and it looks awful right now. my mom suggested extensions but I wasn't sure if that was appropriate? I had to cut my hair off due to damage and I've been battling with disordered eating again so my hair isn't growing very fast and I just want my hair back. feeling kinda ugly tbh. but I'd rather have short hair than be insensitive. :/

Firstly you look nice that's a cute hairstyle on you. Alright now second NO. A big fat NO. Extensions are not in anyway shape or form cultural appropriation. Extensions don't belong to any culture so therefore they can be worn by any culture. It would only be considered cultural appropriation if you went and got braids and looked down on a culture it came from. Or if you were disrespectful and tried to take credit for creating the style itself. But there is a big difference between appropriation, assimilation, and appreciation. Other races can wear hairstyles by a different race without appropriating it. As long as someone is respectful and understanding of the culture then it's not a problem but what you've done here is not appropriation in any way.

Coming from a black person, no. Extensions in my opinion is not culture appropriation. But when you get into the sew ins, the braids, and the dreadlocks your in a touchy territory.
