nexplanon bleeding

I've had my nexplanon in for about 6 weeks now and I also have been returning to having sex with my partner. I know this totally tmi but I'm just trying to rule out factors. so me and my partner just recently started having relatively rough intercourse. u have been spotting as usual and it is usually dark. i had intercourse this weekend and my bleeding has gotten so continuous and heavy that I can't wear normal panties for like 5 min without a pad or tampon. why is my bleeding so heavy now. is it my new birth control or is it possible I tore or hurt myself (p.s. the blood seems to be fresh and not dark it's a very light color)
