Less expensive stroller & infant seat?

I'm looking for an infant seat and stroller (travel system). I do not like the giant double two wheeled graco ones (know what I'm talking about?) We are a one income family, and most of the suggestions I see here are like the Nuna.. which I'd love to have, but price point is way overboard for us. help! I'm lost trying to research and stuff. too much to choose, and too upsetting to keep seeing all the new fancy $600 ones! suggestions?

I purchased this Safety First one from baby's r us on sale for $165 and it's normally $180. The car seat is SO soft and feels like great quality. The stroller does have two wheels but it isn't bulky at all.

I bought a really high quality but used stroller on Craig's list, then got a new car seat (and the adapter it needed).  I saved about $400, and the stroller is awesome.

Strollers are ridiculously expensive. I will say the one thing to splurge on would be anything you can re use. Gender neutral stroller and car seat. Crib, that kind of stuff. All three of my boys have used the same crib. Unfortunately I went cheap on strollers and infant seats and they all ended up broken or having something go wrong.
