is this typical?

Okay this may be tmi but normally on my period it’s very short (3-4 days) and there’s hardly and bleeding (I usually don’t even need a tampon, just a pantyliner to protect my panties) and whatever blood comes out is usually like brown colored but I just started taking the pill (trinessa) to regulate (I barely ever had periods and they were extremely irregular) and I’ve been on my first period (while on the pill) for 6 days now and I see no signs of it stopping anytime soon. There is so much blood that I’m going through a super tampon in like 2 hours and it’s all red like my period were when I first started and my cramps are literally the worst thing ever. I’m 18 and I got my first period when I was 11 so I’m not new to bleeding but Is this normal for being on the pill?
