membrane sweep opinions

I'm about 39 weeks along and I've been having contractions every day for at least a week .. at my prenatal visit today my midwife said I'm 3cm dilated and offered to do a membrane sweep so I accepted .

my doctor's have been pushing me to get an induction and I have one scheduled for Friday morning but I was thinking about rescheduling for next week to see if I can go naturally after doing the membrane sweep . wanted to get some opinions , do membrane sweeps help to get labor going ?
