Will lube defeat the purpose of having sex to help start labor?

Can I still use lube when having sex if I'm trying to help soften my cervix and bring on labor?

Well I've heard it's the mans sperm that softens cervix and gets it ready but also that orgasms can trigger contractions and start it up ??

I wouldn't. It could hold infection up there. Ask your doctor

Stay away from glycerin based lubricants. It can cause yeast infections when pregnant. And if the cervix is dilated, you don't want that up near baby. The warnings are on the label.

The reason sex helps induce labor is a chemical that is in sperm. Most lube is spermicidal which means it will kill the sperm before it reaches the cervix. If you're having sex to induce labor, don't use anything that stops the sperm from making it!
