First pregnancy and vegan!?

Hey ladies, this is my first pregnancy and yes I'm doing it vegan.. is there anything you need to do different? I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right and giving my baby all that it needs.

Stay hydrated, lots of sweet potatoes and lot of chia and hemp seeds. All good for the babies brain development

awesome !! this is my second pregnancy but my first vegan pregnancy. I have a 12 month old daughter and we have all been vegan for almost 9 months now :) so excited to have a vegan pregnancy !!

The only thing I would say is make sure you have enough calories throughout the day. I just had my 3rd baby, and I would just kind of eat all day long. I found myself feeling more sluggish and tired if I didn't have enough. Energy bites are great to have laying around for when you don't feel like eating an entire meal but you need to eat something, or if you are in a rush out the door. Now that I am breastfeeding him, I have been eating more carbs (brown rice, potatoes, etc.) because my LC said I should be having around 2000 calories per day. It REALLY makes a difference for milk production to maintain calories and drink plenty of water.

80-100g protein per day. it's super easy to get. 
2000-2500 calories. the hard part, for me at least.
55g fat.
1000mg sodium. 
Deva has a good Vegan Prenatal, also take Deva DHA.

So... Hang in there!! I really wanted to do a vegan pregnancy (my husband and I have been vegan at home, which is where we do the vast majority of our eating, but we will eat eggs and dairy when invited to someone's house-- we live in Morocco. So people wouldn't know what to do with us otherwise!!).  However, I have super bad morning sickness and discovered that I can tolerate yogurt, so I have starting eating that just because my diet is lacking in variety . There seriously aren't many options here. The only other things I can tolerate are starches like oatmeal and plain pasta, and fruit. If you have access to vegan alternatives, go for it all the way! Just take B-12 supplements 😊 You'll be able to get everything else from plants 🙌🏼
