Cholestasis??

Question

Just been informed today that I have cholestasis. Other than being itchy all over all the time (how it got brought up to begin with, i told my doc i itch from head to toe!) can anyone tell me what to expect or what I'm dealing with? They put me on a bile acid pill.

I found out I had it on the day I hit my 38th week mark and the doctors called me in to be induced the same day. I had been itching severely for a few weeks before but thought it was normal to be itchy and pregnant. I started to get worried about the itching when I was waking up in the middle of the night and even my palms and the soles of my feet were itching. It was so bad I left a message with the doctor. She then sent me to the lab to run some tests. Luckily when my tested came back I was exactly 38 weeks so they considered it safe to be induced. Thank God for Mr.Google! I would have never thought it was abnormal to be so itchy had I not googled my symptoms. Thank God my Ds is safe and healthy. He did have jaundice for about 2-3 weeks after he was born but he’s healthy.

How do they diagnose? When I told my dr I itch like crazy he said to see primary care (a family dr)
