Would you be deterred?

We are having a baby girl and have decided to name her Isla. She has a first cousin named Violet. Two totally different names. But nobody pronounces the o in Violet, and just call her Vi-lit. It sounds pretty close to Isla and I'm a bit worried about the confusion it could cause. But the cousin will be living pretty far away and not around all the time. Would this be enough to make you think twice about naming your daughter Isla?

So if we use your "s is silent like in island" pronunciation, then what you're really concerned about is that they both share the "I (eye)" sound?
