Membrane Sweep at 40 weeks 5 days

Finally had a membrane sweep done today! Have been experiencing strong contractions 3 minutes apart for 2 days and only 1 cm dilated :( Dr decided to strip membranes this morning! Still experiencing contractions slightly stronger but nothing crazy yet. I am feeling optimistic but not getting excited at all because I've been experiencing contractions for quite awhile with no change and am slightly discouraged. What was your experience after Dr preformed a membrane sweep?
