My mom has diabetes so will I get it too?
My mom has diabetes and for a few months now I’ve changed my lifestyle drastically because I suddenly realized (after my friend got diabetes at 20!) that I could get it especially because my mom has it so I’m pre-exposed. I’ve been a vegan for a bit over a year, I never eat sweets and junk. I also sleep good hours 10pm-7am, and I work out daily. I take my vitamins and make sure to get enough calories in, but good calories as well as trying to eat foods rich of all vitamins and nutrients. Before changing the way I eat, I used to have high cholesterol and blood pressure and now they’re good and normal. I’m also on my way to losing excess weight and so far I’ve lost 10lbs..
but even though i feel healthier and look healthier I’m so deathly afraid that I’ll get diabetes like my mother or that I’ll get heart disease or something when I’m older.
