When are you planning on announcing the baby’s name?

DH and I had chose prospective baby names for a boy and girl years ago while we were still dating. I’m debating when we are going to share these names with family and friends because a lot of our family and friends can be very opinionated. I’d love to know your opinions on this. Thanks in advance !

I'll tell my family when we know the gender but SM at birth. . . and maybe not even then

My husband sorta feels like he needs permission to use our chosen name for a girl (Madeline) since her namesake isn't a direct relative (it's a LONG story lol). I asked him what he thought the risk was if we didn't ask and he wasn't sure, just a gut feeling. Has anyone else felt the need to ask for permission to use a name?
