Kyleena IUD Placement

I haven’t really seen anything on here about IUD placement, so I wants to post my experience. I just had Kyleena (an IUD) placed today...

Note: I took 2 Advil Liquid Gels before the procedure, and it is day 2 of my period. They recommend you wait for IUD insertion until your period starts; your cervix is wider, your flow is heavier, and it is less painful.

First she put a speculum in my vagina to open it up- painless; feels like a Pap smear. Next, she had me do 1 loud cough while she placed a clamp onto my cervix to stabilize my uterus- it felt like a pinch. Then she stuck a probe into my cervix to measure the length- this felt like a big cramp and probably hurt the most out of the entire procedure. Last, she put the IUD in- this felt similar to measuring the cervix, but was quicker and slightly less painful.

I did yelp a little when she measured my cervix/inserted the actual IUD, and I was a tiny bit lightheaded for about 30 seconds after, but that was it. I feel fine currently- no cramps and can’t feel a thing. 😊
