39 weeks and being induced?!

My doctor decided to schedule me for an induction on Monday due to me having steady contractions but not much progress with dilation. If anyone has any information about inductions or tips I'd love to hear them. I really don't want a cesarean and I'm scared this might make me get one.

I was induced at 38 weeks due to low amniotic fluid levels. being induced takes longer but I honestly liked it, I wanted to be able to use any pain management offered and since I was there before labor started I was able to utilize everything available. I slept all night through the contractions that were starting thanks to the pain relief, and the next night at 10:59 my little love was born! there is an increased risk of needing a c section. so talk w your dr about the pros and cons. but my personal experience was good. :)

That sounds weird. Why induce when your body is already preparing? Sure you aren’t dilating yet but that doesn’t mean you won’t. Personally I would refuse the induction until 41 weeks. You’re right that they increase the risk of needing a cesarean.

Hm. My doctor told me at 39 weeks that she wouldn’t induce me because I wasn’t dilated. You have a greater risk of things not going smooth if your body isn’t ready itself. 
You can deny the induction and wait if it makes you more comfortable. 
My body did not progress at all until I was 40 weeks.

I had to be induced at 41 weeks with my 1st as he had NO plan of coming anytime soon lol my 2nd i started labor then it was off and on for 3 days when he decied he was coming for good it was to late for any pain meds. I got to the hospital and had to push as soon as my butt hit the bed. my 3rd i was in slow labor for a week, we induced at 39 weeks because I was slowly dilating and he was getting stressed. he was born within 2 hrs of getting induced. I've never had any issues with being induced, you have pain management options as soon as you need them. all my boys were born normally with never any talk of a c section at all.   I have to say giving birth to my 2nd all natural was an amazing thing but not somthing is chose to do again! lol
