Have you every filed for bankruptcy?

If you have, can you tell me how your life was afterwards? How has your credit and finances improved? Were you able to keep your car or home?

The personal finance subreddit has some great information and stories about bankruptcy if you don't get any feedback here. I've never declared bankruptcy personally.

I used to work finance and came across many people who had declared bankruptcy for various reasons. The first thing I'll say is do not file if you don't need to, get help, ask for help there are charities who can help with advice don't be a afraid to ask. They want to help. 
Secondly it will effect you but not forever. I've seen people go bankrupt and then build business. 
Bankruptcy is a last resort but is sometimes the best option in certain circumstances. 
please be informed before you make the decision.
