No condoms?

So my boyfriend and I talked and the next time we get either my house or his house to ourselves we are going to have sex for the first times.(I'm a virgin) But he doesn't want to use a condom because I'm on birth control. He says we don't need one. I said birth control is only 98% effective and he's like "I like those odds" idk what to do. And then I'm like well you'd have to pull out. And idk if he's joking but every time. He goes nahhhhh. I mean no condom seems fun. But I don't want to risk pregnancy
