Our wee babe arrived!

Charlotte

Our gorgeous little girl Freya as born this morning at 2.11am weighing 6lbs6oz and is absolutely perfect in every way.

I have had braxton hicks for weeks but yesterday morning they started to cause back pain as well. I had a bath and lost a bit of my bloody show. Told my husband and he came home around midday. The contractions progressively got stronger but I wanted to hold off going to the birth centre as I know for a lot of women it stops labour. So we went in for about 19.30 and found out I was dilated 5cm. Carried on without meds until midnight but by then I was shattered and the contractions were coming longer and stronger. the midwife checked and there was no change, still at 5cm. She offered cocodomal to hopefully give me some time to rest so I took them and my husband went home to shower. Well lucky he wasn't gone long because within the next hour it suddenly got real! The contractions were super strong and on top of one another. Checked and I was 9cm. Midwives got the bath ready and by gone 1.30am I was in and pushing our wee dote out. I had gas and air but towards the end couldn't focus with the tube in my mouth. I struggled to embrace the natural urge to push at first but after a calm word from the midiwfe got the hang of it! Feeling the head come out is surreal and there was a time in between pushes that I could feel my baby turn! then she was out and it felt amazing! I found contractions worse for that hour than the actual pushing part. I cannot recommend a water birth enough either. Super happy right now 😍
